August Round-Up

This month the Scurr Architects team took the afternoon off, away from our desks for our annual Summer BBQ. The day was filled with mini games, including badminton, chess and cricket, all whilst Stephen took charge of the grill and delivered quite the feast (the homemade chocolate ice cream is always a showstopper)!

Fantastic food, a little competitive spirit and plenty of sunshine made for a really lovely afternoon. It’s one of those events that everyone looks forward to each year, a chance to have a laugh and enjoy some time together outside of the office. Long may it continue!

Familiar Faces

As the summer draws to a close, we’re excited to welcome a new year out student to the team. Joshua is already a familiar face around the office, as he joined us last summer for work experience, so it’s great to welcome him back for his placement year. Supporting the next generation, and watching students grow into confident, talented future architects, designers or technicians, is something we feel strongly about at Scurr Architects, and taking on a placement student each year is a commitment we’re really proud of.

We also wanted to take a moment to reflect on the longer journey some of our collegues have taken with the practice. Over 20% of our team first joined us through the same placement route, going back to university to qualify and then return to us to continue their careers here. Another number, that makes us equally happy, is that over 35% of our team have been with us for over a decade, having seen the practice grow and evolve considerably over the years. We’ve been fortunate to have some really long standing relationships, and we look forward to continuing that story!
