Royal Star & Garter, Surbiton

Scurr Architects originally achieved planning consent for a three storey elderly care residential care home in Surbiton, which was then acquired by the Royal Star & Garter.

Bespoke Care Design

We worked extensively with our client to achieve a bespoke internal design, suitable for their specific clientele, whilst retaining the planning approved building envelope. The state-of-the-art facilities in the new care home allowed the charity to offer nursing and secure dementia care for their residents. Bedroom suites were also created for the provisions of rehabilitation care for younger disabled ex-service personnel.

The home was able to accommodate all of RS&G’s residents who were moving from their original care home in Richmond which was no longer suitable for providing care. This created an unusual experience opening a brand new care home with over forty residents moving in during the first few days.

Solar-Powered Sustainability

More recently we have worked with our client to obtain planning permission for an array of roof mounted solar panels. The final installation provides over 100 solar panels providing up to 46,000kWh of electricity and saving around 26,000kg of C02 emissions per year.
