Nightingale, Wandsworth
The Wohl Building at Nightingale House is a contemporary state-of-the-art building dedicated to the care of residents with dementia and set within the extensive grounds of an existing grade 2 listed care home.
Contemporary Care Environment
The new facilities provide safe accommodation for up to 40 residents on two floors and include a synagogue, hairdresser & beauty salon, crafts & activity rooms, lounges, quiet room and seating areas, dining rooms and a newly refurbished concert room.
The stunning contemporary architecture makes a significant statement about the quality design of this environment for dementia sufferers and deliberately contrasts with the existing buildings and environment. Architecture and services are combined to produce one of the first carbon neutral care buildings.

Thoughtful Interior Design
Scurr Architects also provided the complete interior design and fit out including artwork, fixtures & fittings and furniture. We researched Jewish traditions and customs to ensure that the interior design was appropriately designed to meet our client’s requirements, particularly for prayer and food preparation. The dementia wing at Nightingale House was formally opened by Prince Charles.
