Sunrise, Edgbaston

Located in the historic conservation area of Edgbaston, within central Birmingham, this three storey senior living luxury care home was built on the site of the former Sense charity complex.

Regency Style Care Home

Scurr Architects worked closely with our client and the local council’s planners and listed building officers to create a contemporary interpretation of the early nineteen century Regency style of architecture for which central Edgbaston is well known. The quality architecture of large Georgian villas in the area reflected the aspirations for the new care home being created.

The home was also located immediately adjacent to a main line railway and very close to a tunnel approach, constraints which required careful demolition and structural design with additional consent negotiated with British Rail.

Collaborating Across Continents

The luxurious interior, including their signature two story grand foyer, was designed and fitted out working in co-operation with our client’s US based designers. We were instrumental in implementing, co-ordinating and refining their world-wide design requirements across their UK care home developments.
