November Round-Up

As we move into the final months of the year, November has been an exciting and productive period across all sectors of Scurr Architects. From project openings to charity fundraising, the studio has been buzzing with activity.

This year, we went all out for Children in Need! The studio was filled with bright yellow and spotty outfits as the team hosted a fantastic fundraising Bake Sale, raising over £172 for this incredible cause. A big thank you to everyone who baked, donated, and got involved!

Project Updates

Our Wendover care project continues to make steady progress, with steelwork now being installed. Despite some very chilly site visits, it’s exciting to see the building form taking shape.

It’s been another busy month for our McDonald’s team, with three restaurants opening across the country: Stockton, Barnsdale Bar, and Cheshunt. Stockton marks a first-of-its-kind bespoke drive-thru restaurant designed as a new concept building with rollout potential. Cheshunt, a challenging conversion, has now transformed into a high-functioning, high-capacity restaurant; despite the constraints of a long, narrow footprint, the redesign successfully accommodates 80 covers within the refreshed and fun Essential Ingredients décor scheme. Barnsdale Bar is a high-capacity model building featuring the vibrant Luna décor, an eye-catching and dynamic scheme with pops of green and circular references that create a striking interior and support efficient customer flow.

This month also saw the opening of Busy Bees Cricklewood, following our successful feasibility study earlier in the year. The project marks another positive step in our growing Education portfolio.

Quarterly Meeting

During our recent quarterly office meeting, we introduced the team to our refreshed website, shared insights, and outlined goals for the months ahead. We were keen to encourage staff to make the most of opportunities for site visits, as learning directly from the building development and experiencing the construction process first-hand remains invaluable to architectural practice. As a practice, we’re committed to supporting our team in expanding their skills, staying engaged, and developing their knowledge.
