June Round-Up
Summer has well and truly arrived at the Scurr Architects studio; with the football sweep stake in full swing, and ice cream van making its long-awaited return past the office. On site, in the studio, and attending industry events, there’s been plenty to keep us busy this month.
June has seen four new McDonald’s restaurant openings across the UK, a fantastic set of completions to celebrate. Alongside this a steady flow of new conversion feasibility studies has been keeping the team busy with early stage sketching, space planning, and designing for both operational efficiency and the best possible customer experience.
Further afield, Nic attended the McDonald’s Worldwide Convention 2026 in Las Vegas, joining thousands of franchisees, suppliers, and partners from around the world. It was a brilliant opportunity to hear more about where the brand is heading and connect with new and familiar faces. McDonald’s has been an important part of Scurr Architects work for many years, so it’s always exciting to be involved in events like this.
On Site Progress
Over with our care projects, we have a few great on site milestones to celebrate this month. The Nazareth House Hammersmith refurbishment is back on site for its next phase with works set to continue through to 2029. Moving into the heart of the original building, strip out works have already started to uncover some wonderful hidden details; 1960s wallpapers, original floor tiles buried beneath concrete, and structural archways emerging as layers are peeled back. We can’t wait to share more as the project develops!
The solar panel installation at Royal Star & Garter, Solihull is now complete. Working closely with the installation company, we supported the project from the planning process, through to completion. A total of 282 panels are now installed and operational, a brilliant sustainability milestone for the project.
At Salveo Care in Wendover, the build continues to progress well with the internal rooms beginning to take shape. It’s really rewarding to follow the project through each stage and witness the home coming to life.
Looking ahead
In our education portfolio we’re pleased to share that planning permission has been granted for a new Busy Bees nursery in Brackley. A really positive step forward and we are looking forward to seeing this one progress in the coming months.
With sunny days bringing the team outside for lunch and plenty of exciting projects in the pipeline, we’re heading into July in good spirits.
